Well I'm at the end of another great yet exhausting day here in Riga. First I got up and had a little coffee and jogurts with musli (yogurt with granola), then it was off to the Baltic Reformed Theological Seminary. After a 25-30 minute walk to the Seminary I listened in on another lecture for the gospel of John. The lecture was good and after our first break we switched into workshop mode and answered some written questions about the scripture. I actually was the first to speak up about one of the questions and I got it right! I was really surprised because I couldn't even come up with an answer for most of them! Of course this is because I am many things, but a Bible scholar I am not. =) (Picture above from left to right: Amy Cambell, Becky, Me, Professor Gordon Cambell, and Carl.) Anyway after the workshop it was time for lunch so Carl, Becky, and I ate at an (like my alliteration?) Itilian restraunt where I ordered a delicious calzone (Jim I know your jealous). After lunch we walked back home for about 30 minutes. Then it was time to go look at my future apartment! Becky and I grabbed our bikes (actually I was on Carl's) and headed across the river to meet Christine. Christine showed us everything and she had even typed out a full page of everything that I will need to know. She is extremely kind and thoughtful! The apartment is nice (I'll take some pictures once I move in) and actually its a Russian apartment building. After our meeting with Christine, Becky and I biked over to Martins and Anda's for Bible study with young adults. The Bible study was good and we had a good number of people also. We studied Isaiah chapters 38 & 39 and then sang a few songs. I had only planned two songs but again they requested a third! (I want to be clear that when I say this I'm not bragging, clearly my musicianship has nothing to do with their enjoyment of the music.) I'm just thankful that God has chosen to use my gift of music here even in a different country! I also want to note that one point in my life I thought that because I was gifted with music it was the only way that I needed to serve God. Now the Lord has shown me that I have so much more to offer Him than just music and He wants it all! Anyway, after Bible study I biked by myself back home! Actually for the first leg I followed Carl in his car but still...and I'm thankful I didn't get lost because I didn't have a map and my cell phone battery was dead! I'm sure that most of the women reading this are now shaking their heads and thinking "typical guy, being too risky", but you men understand...I needed a little adventure! Anyway, I'm now at home and hopefully I will be in bed soon!
Well first of all...nice rolled up pants. Second of all...since when do YOU drink coffee??? third of all...LOVE Isaiah all together, awesome. And last-of-all you would take a bike ride w/o a map or phone...not surprised :) hope the apartment is wonderful.
